Notary vs Apostille

Notary is when a document is requiring it to be notarized. The notary process requires the documents, the signer and a notary public. The Notary Public will verify the signer through identification. They will make sure the signer is who is named on the documents. The Notary Public will witness the signing of the document. Then they will notarize the page. All notary certificates will be done according to the state laws.

Apostille is required when a document are being used internationally. Birth certificates, marriage certificate and death certificate do not need to be notarized it will be apostille and authenticated by the state to show its original. Documents that are not vital records will need to be notarized first, then apostille. Apostille authenticates the document and if its notarized it authenticates the notary certificate that was properly done by the states laws and the signature of the notary is an exact match to states records. This process helps eliminate fraud.
